How to do keep the flex when you make an E-board.

One of the biggest issues when you do/buy an electric longboard, is keep the flexibility.

The case along all the deck doesn´t allow any flexibility.

The connection, between the box and the deck, does not allow the flex. The simple fact that the box is not flexible at all, and it is fixing along all deck, makes it rigid, and as you know, the most rigid the longboard is the most uncomfortable it became.

So, the challenge is to make a case that can contain the ESC the batteries and keep the flexibility.

A Pangoli is an example of how a hard shell can be flexible.

In order to do that, I was inspired by nature. How does some animal to have a solid but flexible shell? Easy, the split the shell, so we should do the same.

This is the how we do, to keep the flex, in a the cheapest and smartest way.

In the image below you can see the idea:

-The main box for the ESC, the voltmeter, and the on/off switch

-The CELLS boxes. These boxes contain the bateries and are positioned in a perpendicular direction on the deck, this is very important, otherwise, it will take so much space and compromise the flex.

The boxes are, obviously, connected with cables, that makes a perfect flexibility.

I did two possible designs, one with 6 boxes for the 6 cells, and another one with 3 boxes and each box can allow 2 cells. And the question, is Did it work? Yes It did! and perfectly!

The cases are fixed with two screws in a perpendicular way to the long board, in this way you don´t compromise the flexibility and it is more than enough for the weight that they are holding.

One more detail, every the main case for the ESC and the small cases for the cells, all of them , has been print and built with an 3D printer.
